"No Cats in Vietnam is a work of non-fiction fitting loosely into the classic “memoir” category. The author is following through on an old suggestion, writing about his own life that someone else has thought “interesting.” Although, the title may suggest yet another Vietnam narrative, the author knows full well that there is/was more to his own life than that lone episode. On the other hand, it is the formative event and experience of a twentieth century American life. It is one life written up in detail.
